Date/Time: Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 10:00am - 12:00pm
Address: Bourre Restaurant, Atlantic City
Now known as the “Orange Loop,” a reference to the orange properties on a Monopoly board, this neighborhood once was considered the “Gay-borhood” of Atlantic City. Various nightclubs and bars hosted by Louisa Mack made this area a popular spot for the LGBT community. In 2014, Atlantic City’s first openly gay mayor, Don Guardian, declared Park Place the city’s official gay-friendly beach. This tour will begin at Bourre Restaurant, 201 S. New York Ave, and will include visits to the Atlantic City Civil Rights Garden, and former locations of the Brass Rail, Snake Alley, the Entertainer’s Club, and the Lark Inn.
Anyone interested in attending is asked to wear walking shoes and bring a water bottle, as each tour will cover between two to three miles of parks, city streets, and boardwalk. Tours will start and end in the same locations.
