The Hammonton Education Foundation will hold its 17th annual Taste of the Town from 3 to 6 p.m. March 8 at Hammonton High School. Proceeds from the event, at which more than two dozen eateries and vendors will serve samples of their signature dishes, will help the foundation fund innovative projects in the Hammonton School District. The Hammonton High School jazz band and members of the spring musical cast will perform. Students from Susan Watson Leiser Piano Studio and Dawn Baldwin's Dance Magic also will entertain the crowd. There will be a basket auction and 50/50. Main sponsors are Macrie Brothers Blueberry Farm and Ocean First Bank. Gold sponsors are AtlantiCare, Lexa Concrete and Steven Mortelliti (UBS). Silver sponsors are Calderone Construction, Joseph Porretta Builders, Kramer Beverage, M.L. Ruberton Agency and RE/MAX Community #buywithbirn. Bronze sponsors are Atlantic Blueberry Co., Crescent Service LLC, Crowley & Carr Real Estate and Passions Florist. Friends of Hammonton Education Foundation are Marinella Funeral Home and Gandolfi Financial Service. Taste of the Town is a major source of funding for the Hammonton Education Foundation, which has given more than $490,000 worth of grants to local schools since its inception in 2003. The grants — for which teachers or administrators must apply — fund projects that are not covered by the general school budget. Tickets for Taste of the Town are $25 for adults and $10 for students. They are available by calling Jaime Porretta at (609) 839-9527, Lori Calderone at (609) 839-6502 or Roseann Struble at (609) 432-7977. They also are available at Casciano Coffee Bar & Sweetery, Joe Italiano’s Maplewood Inn or The Golden Feather.
